Having just spent five weeks at the Meadows I can tell you that the care and attention to detail was outstanding. I am so sorry about your loss. I thought you should know that there has been so much good work done here that the center deserves very high marks for their program.

There are two reported cases of inpatient suicide at THE MEADOWS of Wickenburg. In November of 2004, R. Matthew "Matt" Burne was able to complete suicide while a patient in the (unlocked) Acute Wing of this renowned facility. Noted and documented as suicidal, he walked out an unlocked, unsupervised door sometime between 3-6AM and hanged himself on a tree (with his own belt) on an adjacent horse farm. Staff didn't know he was missing from his room until reported as such by his roommate. Previously, in March of 1999, Denise Lee Dixon also perished from suicide while an inpatient - and in the care of - THE MEADOWS. She hanged herself in her Meadow's bathroom after failing to report for dinner. She was at The Meadows, in part, due to an eating disorder. Denise was found by her roommate and was cool to the touch when found. Matt Burne and Denise Dixon had each reached out to THE MEADOWS for help, yet both died there. They were tragically and irreversibly failed by this fully licensed/accredited AZ hospital and its staff.
